I'm a freelance photographer currently living in Orange County, California with my wonderful husband who helps haul my gear, maintain my jeep so I can get to the places I want to go, and keeps me company for hours while I wait for the light to change.
I've been shooting for over 27 years. I started my professional photography career working in the gray market photographing European automobiles (and learning the pleasures of riding in a convertible with the top down in a snowstorm). Since then I've had the opportunity to do many fun things with my camera, including shooting the stills and promo work for an award winning movie and seeing my name actually listed in the credits, and seeing my sports photography on the pages of the NY Times. I love to shoot absolutely anything and am constantly experimenting with new subjects and techniques, but since I'm an adventurer and gypsy at heart the majority of my personal work is focused on the outdoors.
My current fascination is exploring the Mojave Desert. I'm obsessed with light, shadow, texture and sun-faded colors and intrigued by the wealth of natural and cultural history deep in the heart of the desert. I bought and modified a jeep so I could get to the places I wanted to explore and ended up making some great friends who also love exploring, and they've introduced me to a whole new world. I really enjoy photographing the jeeps on the trail and rock crawling, although sometimes it's a tough decision as to whether I want to wheel, or turn the jeep over to my husband so I can shoot - I haven't figured out how to do both yet. My OffRoad Adventures gallery contains photos of many of our adventures - both the jeeps and the scenery - and you can read about our trips on my blog.
CareyPhoto is available for assignments and is fully equipped to spend extended periods of time in remote locations.
I also have an MBA and spent twenty-two years in the global corporate environment, much of it at the executive level. This means I not only understand your business needs, I speak your language.
